Members of Serve On's International Response Team joined Portuguese Bomberos plus other search and rescue technician from across Europe for an Evolsar exercise in Lisbon in November. Now two members of the IRT will be joining an Evolsar exercise and training weekend in Malta in March.
Serve On volunteers will be back in action in Bath in support of SARAID Avon CRT, and the local Fire and Rescue Service, following the life-saving patrols back in December.
With more student events coming up, and celebrations due following the end of exams, they'll be patrolling the River Avon again to try to keep people safe as part of the ongoing #Don'tDrinkAndDrown campaign
It's the society event you dare not miss - the Serve On end-of-year get together.
It's a chance to celebrate all we've achieved over the past 12 months, and to welcome new members, with the sort of exclusive curry and camping camaraderie that Royal Ascot or Glyndebourne can only dream off.
Open to all members. Dress code: Must wear a hat.
Watch out for the Doodle in November to confirm your attendance.
Members of the CRT will be deploying in support of Hayling Island Sailing Club to provide safety boat cover for this event. Weather permitting, it promises to be a great day and will provide plenty of experience for the newly qualified helms in the team. It will also enable other volunteers to gain experience as crew and to practice recovery techniques.
For the last 3 years, Team Serve On Tough Mudders, including both IRT and CRT members, have been putting themselves though the mill to raise awareness of the charity and raise funds. The core of the team have to date completed 51 Tough Mudders between them, but this is the swansong event as the team will then be retiring to look for a new challenge. As much support as is humanly possible would be great and if anyone wants to take part, you’re all invited.
We're back at Longleat this year for Glow in the Park in support of Alabaré, the charity that helps the homeless. Last year, when the CRT joined Raynet and Wessex 4X4 for the evening event it attracted around 5,000 participants and this year is expected to be just as successful. The event, around the house and gardens of Longleat, provides an excellent opportunity to train in radio communications, as well as being a fun evening for all the volunteers.
Members of Serve On CRT deployed to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Portsdown West in support of the families day there and to recruit volunteers for the Portsmouth CRT. There have been two sessions to DSTL employees in the last three months talking about Serve On and volunteering in general, so this was e a good opportunity to capitalise on that and it also brought in a £500 donation to the CRT.
This year we are delighted to be chosen as one of the main charity partners of the Virgin Kite Surfing Armada. Serve on will be providing rescue support and coordination for the event. Follow the event on the Virgin Kite Surf site or come down and see the spectacle of up to 600 kites storming through the course.
**Please note this event is weather dependent and will go ahead on one of the below weekends.**
2nd - 4th October
16th - 18th October
This year as part of the Cotswolds Show Serve On were invited to have a stand and promote Serve On. Our Dog Search Team leapt into action and thanks to Katerina, Kerry, Jo, Rod, Maddie and our canine friends managed to speak to lots of visitors at the fair and raise the profile of Serve On. The show was very well attended over the two days and we hope to be invited again in coming years.
