SERVE ON is upgrading its flood rescue capability thanks to a grant from the Flood Relief Fund set up by campaigning community 38 Degrees. The funding means that SERVE ON’s Flood Response Team can equip its rigid inflatable boats with more powerful engines, allowing the team to operate in any type of flood water in the UK.
Following an enhanced training programme, the team will provide the highest level of flood rescue capability in the country, on a par with their regular emergency service counterparts.
SERVE ON’s Flood Response Team is part of its volunteer International Response Team (IRT), a fully-trained team of specialists on standby 24/7 to respond to emergencies anywhere in the UK and abroad. Its members have deployed to 22 international disasters in the last 20 years and specialise in flood response, urban search and rescue, command and control, and disaster response training.
