Serve On volunteers were in the River Dee in Llangollen at the weekend completing training to qualify as Swiftwater Rescue Technicians.

Congratulations to our 13 newly-qualified Swiftwater Rescue Technicians!

After last month’s extensive learning near Poole, recruits from Serve On’s International Response Team and volunteers from the Community Resilience Teams were back in the water for another full-on weekend.

This time they made the 380-mile round-trip to North Wales for more testing water rescue training, in the foaming white waters of the River Dee at Llangollen.

With half an eye on the fast-approaching Storm Freya, they put in the hard-work necessary for success.

The trip was both exhilarating ahd rewarding, thanks to the efforts of the keen-to-learn volunteers and our amazing instructors, including Tom, Nick, Tony, Mark and Craig.

Other weekend activities look tame by comparison.

Well done team.
