The annual Round Hayling Island Challenge lived up to its name this year with some particularly testing Autumnal weather.

It meant plenty of work for the Serve On volunteers providing safety cover for the event as a number of the competitors found the going tough and were grateful for help to the shore.

Outriggers, kayakers, canoeists, paddle boarders and windsurfers alike battled the fluctuating winds and heavy rain as they took on the four, nine or 14-mile route, starting from the iconic Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC).

There are few challenges like it in the UK, with the competing tides and winds around Hayling Island, but the hardy competitors gave it their all.

Serve On had four boats on the water to support HISC’s own safety boats, and earned plenty of praise for their efforts, with the race officer declaring, ‘We couldn’t do this event without Serve On’.

Our thanks to @Hayling_Island_SC and to @TheSUPCompany.
