Vandals have smashed up one of Serve On’s kit vans.
The vehicle, which was used for storage so that our volunteers are able to deploy rapidly to disaster situations, was parked at the charity’s training ground in Chilmark.
The culprits, who broke in to the compound, smashed the windows, ripped out fuses, stole the battery and radio and covered the van in paint.
The wanton damage, which occurred in the past week, may have put the vehicle beyond use and it is not something that can easily be replaced.
Serve On volunteers rely on donations for all of the equipment which they use to help the community and which, in disaster situations, can save lives.
Police are currently investigating the damage and want anybody local to Chilmark who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to call them on 101.
Anyone who has any information regarding the crime can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
If you are in a position to help with any contribution, however small, so that Serve On volunteers can continue to do the work they do, please donate at
