I became aware of Serve On and the work they do via a friend who invited me along socially. Initially I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to join and be involved operationally, but I joined in with a flood rescue training weekend, and quickly made up my mind. I found the team to be highly professional, knowledgeable and capable, and I wanted to be part of that, both in the flood & water rescue aspect, and international urban search & rescue. It was clear to me, just from that initial experience, that the team were serious about their training and capability, and would be prepared and able to make a positive contribution in a disaster situation.

I work as an Architectural Technologist and have an in-depth knowledge of building construction, which will be useful when training to rescue people trapped in collapsed buildings. I also have a background in the Army Reserve, where I was trained in communications, and as a physical training instructor and military skills instructor, and deployed on operations overseas. I enjoy being outdoors, and enjoy hard work and challenging myself. I am looking forward to learning new skills, and using them to help those in need.
