Despite having spent the entire selection weekend for ServeOn wondering why I wanted to do this (whilst having an absolutely wonderful time I should underline!) I still find it a hard question to answer. A strangely impractical mix of electrical and carpentry skills from my house building family combined with a social work and psychology professional life doesn’t fit well in many organisations but ServeOn does seem to be one. The team is comprised of a broad range of people with hugely different experiences, but they share common values, a desire to help others, a sense of adventure and fun, and derive obvious joy from working together. As a result I'm leaning towards the why being the opportunity to do a wide range of things to help others using a blend of skills both old and new and with people who are a joy to work with… but I’m still adding to that list!
