I have always been active and often been involved with various charity events such as fun runs and obstacle courses etc. Whilst working full-time as a surveyor, I have often found that something was missing and that I wanted to be more involved with a club or activity. Serve On offered an opportunity to learn new skills, a reason to keep fit and ultimately offer a helping hand to those who need it most, should the need arise. I really enjoy the physical challenges, but I find the technical problem solving and teamwork the most rewarding element. The people involved with Serve On all share a similar goal and vision for the future, this feeling of teamwork is solid throughout the charity, regardless of the persons skills or abilities. The training has been brilliant and allowed me to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of. The swift water rescue training has been brilliant, the opportunity to advance within the water rescue team has been a really rewarding experience. I’m very proud to be a member of the team at Serve On and hope that we can continue to grow and adapt as a modern volunteering organisation.
